This purpose of this assignment was to add a form and verify we collected information. I was able to fairly easily set up the form and get everything looking good. Collecting the information was not difficult either. The hardest part that I am still working through is verification. I can do the php verification, but my javascript verification is not working. I am planning on going to office hours tomorrow to help get this fixed and hopefully I will be able to do verification before the user clicks submit if they have javascript enabled.
Update:
I looked in the error console and found that my jquery reference files were in the wrong place and so I changed them around and my javascript is working. I used the Tutwow tutorial for most of the javascript error checking, just editing their javascript for adding in my extra fields. I found their email verification function to be quite useful. Initially I had used w3schools formula for building a form, but to make it work with the Tutwow javascript, I had to adapt it to the table format they use in the Tutwow tutorial. I also found a nice phone verification formula that works to make sure the phone number is in the valid format. Right now I have a simple calendar like Professor Fell used in her php tutorials, since the assignment is due today, I probably won’t have time to find a better calendar widget. I hope to find a better one soon and will update my form at that point.
